Dental implants
Dental implants, the latest great advance in dentistry, are based on the concept of osteointegration, defined by Branemark as the anchor for the implant in the bone, able to satisfy the clinical functional requirements as a support for the prosthesis and to transmit the occlusal forces directly to the bone. Many designs of implants exist that vary in their form, type of screw, and the type of surface for connection of the implant to the post. Without doubt, the most important issue concerning implants as the ideal treatment is currently the waiting time for the process of osteointegration and the immediate loading of the implants (46).
