The dental pulp is an organ that presents certain, special characteristics, the main one of which is that it is surrounded by hard tissues, formed by the walls of the tooth, and its capacity to react to aggressions is therefore rather distinctive. These aggressions may be chemical, physical, due to microorganisms, mechanical stimuli or irradiation. There are a number of classifications of pulp pathology, and a logical manner in which to perform this is according to the symptoms and signs with which it presents, as described by Cohen (22).
