Normal oral ecology
The oral cavity contains multiple habitats for microorganisms, which together form a complex ecosystem. The teeth, mucosae, saliva, and even the prostheses that a patient may have, present different characteristics and, for this reason, the microorganisms that develop on each one of these have their particular characteristics. Streptococcus and Actinomyces are the bacteria that are found in the highest concentrations within the oral cavity (31)(32).
