Plaque control, use of the toothbrush II

Plaque control, use of the toothbrush II‏
Although many techniques for toothbrushing exist, the modified Bass technique is without doubt the most recommended by dentists. This is based on holding the toothbrush at an angle of 45o, aiming to clean the union between the tooth and the gum, a critical site for the accumulation of bacterial plaque. The most important points to be made to the patient are to perform dental hygiene in an orderly manner, at least two times a day and, ideally, after each meal, and to use an indicated interdental hygiene method (dental floss, toothpicks, or others). In general, the specialists also agree that toothbrushes with a soft bristle and compact head should be chosen (4)(8)(24).
